I have spent the better part of a month putting Draftsmith through its paces with some extremely demanding work. It fits seamlessly with my workflow and seldom misses a beat. In the month that I have had it, it has quickly become an indispensable part of my toolbox.

Helpful Tool for Speeding Up Essay Edits

Draftsmith is corrective AI, not generative AI. It doesn't write things from scratch, which is not something I would want as a student who prides myself on my original work. It also doesn't put you at risk of being accused of plagiarism or using AI, because it's only tweaking your existing text. It's designed to help locate and correct mistakes to speed up revisions. This is so helpful when you want to check for typos, reduce word count or quickly improve long, repetitive sentences. It has 8 main tools. The ones I use most often are dictation fixer - good for voice to text transcripts, word count trimmer and readability tuner. You just highlight the text you want to work on and click the prompt you want, and Draftsmith suggests alternative text. You can keep refreshing until you're happy with the suggestion. It only changes what you ask it to. I am studying Spanish and English, and it also has a Translate to English button which I've found useful at times. The one downside I've experienced is that you can only adjust 400 words at a time. However, I've heard that the next version is going to allow you to check longer sections of text. I would definitely recommend this to other students or anyone who has to revise long documents.
